How to Install a Mobile Home Range Hood

Along with the refrigerator and the sink, the range (i.e., oven + cooktop combo) is one of the three essential components of any mobile home kitchen. And regardless of whether your cooking skills are masterful or dubious, using a range necessarily generates fumes and odors —  either from the fuel source (especially with a gas range) or the food item itself. Breathing that all in — especially in the closer confines of a mobile home — may be unpleasant at best and dangerous at worst. But thanks to a mobile home range hood, you don’t have to.

What is a mobile home range hood?

A mobile home range hood is a ventilation system that installs on the ceiling of your mobile home. It features an exterior vent like any other type, but it also has two very important interior vents as well. The first will be located behind or near where you cook and the second will go through the wall into another area outside of your living space. The exterior vent is vented directly outside of your mobile home.

Mobile home range hoods are available in two different styles - ducted or ductless. The latter variety comes equipped for the interior vents, but if you prefer an exterior unit or must install it through a wall, you will need to purchase ducting separately. If the kitchen range hood does not require any kind of venting or duct work, it is best that you consult a professional installation company. They can give you advice on how to get your appliance up and running safely and quickly

What are the benefits of a new mobile home range hood?

A mobile home range hood is a great way to keep your family safe while cooking. It prevents fumes from escaping into the rest of your mobile home, which could cause some serious health problems for you or your family members. Some of these symptoms include nausea, headaches, and even cancer in extreme cases. You should make sure you have one installed in your mobile home if you don't already have one.

How to install a new mobile range hood

Exterior vent

Mobile home range hood vents need to be set up so they can expel the cooking fumes and heat through an exterior wall with a window or large opening in it. You will want to make sure you have enough space between the hole on the outside of your mobile home and the exterior vent of your new range hood.

The exterior vent is the most important part and should be placed in an area where it will service your entire mobile home. This means that you need to make sure there aren't any other vents or fans nearby which could cause a problem with the airflow of the outside vent.

You want to install your mobile home range hood on a sturdy beam which can support its weight. You can choose to have a roofer install it for you if you are not comfortable doing so yourself, but the installation is pretty simple and doesn't require any special tools or skills that most homeowners don't already have around their home.

Wall vents

The other two vents should be installed in places where they won't be affected by any cooking fumes or heat from the range. This means that you should not install them near where you cook, but instead slightly higher up on a wall away from the kitchen area and appliances like the oven.

The interior vent will draw out all of the air accompanied with cooking smells and grease which is very important for keeping both yourself and your family safe. You will want to install this vent at least six inches above the floor of your home and preferably near a window which can be opened for even more ventilation if needed.

The exterior wall vent is also very important as it provides fresh air into your mobile home, especially on those days when you are cooking things that tend to give off very strong odors. This vent should be installed near the ceiling and also six inches away from any walls or windows that could block it's ability to let fresh air in.

Typically, the installation will only take an hour or two based on how many people are working together on completing this project.
